Meet the Baker!

Vanessa!

Hello! I am so glad you're here!

I'm Vanessa; a mom, a wife, a friend, and a lover of sweets.

I was first introduced to the world of gluten free back in 2013 when my husband and I first got together. Due to a misrecognition of Lymes Disease, he was forced on a restricted diet to avoid gluten.

Let me tell you, I had NO IDEA where to begin. There weren't many options and the ones that were available quite frankly didn't taste great. I always joke that if gluten free had a word to describe it, that word would be 'sadness.' Bland and grainy are the most common problems I saw, and continue to see, with gluten free options.

The years passed on with my husband having to sacrifice not having the yummy things that I (selfishly) still enjoyed. Often times he would say, 'Oh, man, I wish I could have that.'

ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH!

I began dedicating myself to figuring out how to recreate some of those things he was missing out on so he could enjoy and be safe.

So, here we are today. Why let my husband be the only one that gets to enjoy all the delicious, safe, treats?

It brings me such joy to offer my creations to all of you. Whether you are avoiding gluten or not.

Thank you for joining me on this adventure!

Why Sweet Nessie's?

Now, you may be wondering, 'Vanessa, why have an adorable little plesiosaurus as your company mascot?'

Well, 'Nessie' is a nickname given to me by some of my most beloved friends and family.

That, and I am facinated by the legend of the Loch Ness Monster. A legend that is still very alive to this day.

The legend of Nessie, and other Cryptids, inspires me to continue this journey of gluten free. When I started, I honestly believed finding something safe that was ALSO delicious was about as unlikely as coming across Nessie or Bigfoot.

Together, I hope you will help me show the world that delicious gluten free things are not things of legend, but are in fact very much part of our world today.

Together, let's bake something legendary!

Today, I love to keep the magic and legends alive by attending various Renaissance Festivals or Comic and Pop-Culture conventions.

It is an amazing feeling being with such a large number of people who are of like mind. Trying to keep wonder alive in a world that tends to stifle anything outside of 'normal.'
